Cara Lou Corning

Former Libby resident Cara Lou Corning, 68, died on May 8, 2005, in Tacoma, Wash.

She was born on July 1, 1936, at Titonka, Iowa, and moved to Libby where she graduated from Libby High School with the Class of 1954.

Cara earned a degree in elementary education from the University of Montana at Missoula in 1958.

She was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority and the Campus Capers Choral Group.

She was a member of Harriet Deering Orthopedic Guild, an ordained deacon and choir member with Fircrest Presbyterian Church at Tacoma, and while living in Colorado was actively involved with the Littleton County Children's Theater.

Cara was much loved and will be missed by many, especially her husband of 45 years, LeRoy Corning, 916 S. Mountain View Ave., Tacoma.

Survivors also include sons Blake Corning, Tacoma and Turis Corning, Lakewood, Wash.; daughter Callan and her husband Steve Simpson in Arizona; sister-in-law Connie Harrison in Texas; step-brother-in-law Ralph Stewart in Montana; cousin Jeri and her husband Steve Munyan, Troy; a niece and nephew and grandchildren Steven Corning and Taylor, Gabrielle and Payton Simpson.

Visitation took place from 4-8 p.m. on Friday at Tuell-McKee Funeral Home, and a celebration of Cara's life was held at Fircrest Presbyterian Church at noon on Saturday.

Memorials in Cara's memory may be made to Fircrest Presbyterian Church Deacons Fund, the Tacoma Orthopedic Guild or a charity of the donors choice.
