John Cox

Longtime Troy resident John W. Cox, 70, died on March 4, 2005, as a result of an ATV accident near his home at Bouse, Ariz.

He was born on Oct. 3, 1934 at Bonners Ferry, Idaho, to Tom and Ruth Cox.

John attended school at Troy and on July 14, 1956, he married Rosalie Green of Libby.

John worked for the U.S. Forest Service until his retirement in 1989.

He was active with the Jaycees and the Troy United Methodist Church at Troy and freely contributed his time and talents to community service and improvement projects at Troy and Bouse.

John was one of those rare individuals who touched the hearts and souls of those he met. He was devoted to improving the lives of friends, family and associates.

He had successfully completed an 18-month-long battle with cancer when an accident claimed his life.

John was preceded in death by his parents Tom and Ruth Cox.

Survivors include his wife Rosalie, Bouse; children Glenn L. Cox and Norma Erickson, both of Troy; grandchildren Jeremy McComas, Fort Jackson, S.C., Nicholas McComas, Bakersfield, Calif., and Amanda Marcum, Troy, and great-grandchildren Victoria DeShazer and James McComas, both of Troy.

Donations may be made to the John W. Cox Memorial Trust, Box 632, Troy. The trust fund has been established to provide continuing education for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, at the United Methodist Church in Troy.
