Grace Smith

Grace M. Smith, 90, of Troy, died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at the Libby Care Center.

She was born on Oct. 14, 1914, at Redford, Mich., and she and her husband Ted had lived in the Troy area since 1988.

Grace was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the John E. Freeman VFW Post at Troy.

During the years they lived in Michigan, Grace and Ted were foster parents to more than 40 children.

In earlier years, Grace was an avid collector of antique dolls.

Survivors include her husband for 55 years, Thaddeus (Ted) R. Smith, Troy; her children Doris M. Cook and her husband David, Dewitt, Mich.; Mary J. Sober and her husband Richard, Roaming Shores, Ohio, and Lary Smith and his wife Leeanna, Troy, nine grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
