Suggestions offered for rummage sale and other signs

| June 24, 2005 12:00 AM

To the Editor:

This is in regards to garage sale, yard sale, rummage sale signs.

First, I feel this should be across the board about signs. The yellow streamers, the banners, the flowers, the stop signs on telephone poles, the stop signs, and no parking signs on light poles. If a group is going to be targeted, all need to be targeted.

Second, I see no problem with having sale signs up, if people will be responsible as soon as the sale is over and take them down.

Third, I suggest that the city mandates the sale signs be dated, if they are not taken down within two days of the sale, the owners of the signs be fined.

The yellow streamers: I am as patriotic as the next one, but how long do they need to be up? We welcomed home the tour that was overseas, might it not be time to take the streamers down?

The banners are pretty, the flowers are pretty, but if they are allowed on the light poles, so should sale signs.

As far as things go on Highway 2, these are businesses, they need their signs for such, maybe it is time to change some laws, rules or whatever.

But fair is fair, if one is targeted all should be.
