Elsie Alger

Elsie Lindsey Gilchrist Alger, 84, a former Troy resident, died on June 22, 2005, at Banner Gardens Hospice House in Mesa, Ariz., of Parkinson's disease complications.

Private services and cremation have taken place and interment will take place later at Milnor Lake Cemetery near Troy.

Elsie was born on Feb. 5, 1921, at Troy, to Tom and Lanta Lindsey, and was raised and educated at Troy.

She married Ernie Gilchrist, they had two daughters and were later divorced.

In 1968, she married Charles Alger.

Elsie spent much of her adult life in Kalispell, Missoula and the Seattle area before moving to Mesa.

She held several positions in clerking and bookkeeping and especially loved the outdoors, traveling, sports and spending time with her family.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, sister Evelyn Cummings Bennett, and brothers Bill, Jim and Curt Lindsey.

Survivors include her husband Charles Alger, Mesa; daughters Connie Passey Jones, Gold Canyon, Ariz., and Carol and her husband Ray Benedetti, Great Falls; brother Ray Lindsey, Libby; grandchildren LeAnn and her husband Frank Purbaugh, Chandler, Ariz., Rob and his wife Amanda Passey, Omaha, Neb., Ryan and his wife Kathy Benedetti, Polson and Jeff and his wife Angie Benedetti, Helena, and nine great-grandchildren.
