Ellen Marchant Shepard

Ellen Marchant Shepard, 60, a 1963 graduate of Libby High School, died on July 2, 2005, at Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

She was born on Jan. 18, 1945, at Polson, to Lawrence Anders and Edna Stark Marchant.

After the death of her mother, her father married Anna Sagen, who raised Ellen from the age of three, and considered her the beloved oldest child in their family of five children.

After graduating from Libby High School, Ellen moved to California, and in 1971 she married William Shepard. The marriage was later solemnized in the LDS Temple.

Ellen dedicated her life to the service of others and to her Savior. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a living example of charity in action, through loving service to her family, friends and those she cared for in her home.

Loved by all who knew her, Ellen will be sorely missed.

Survivors include nephew Travis Bramall, who she helped raise and regarded as a son, three siblings, Luella Huston, Missoula, Larry Marchant, Libby, and Dixie White, McMinnville, Ore. She is also survived by nine other nieces and nephews and extended family members, including friends Diane Caldwell, Hayden Lake, Idaho, and Linda Royse, Coeur d'Alene.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Ilah.

Visitation will be from 1-1:45 p.m. on Saturday, followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2801 N. 4th St., Coeur d'Alene.

Arrangements are under direction of the Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d'Alene.
