Ruth Wert

Former Troy resident Ruth Irene Litch Wert, 89, died on Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at the Ferry County Memorial Hospital Nursing Home in Republic, Wash., where she had lived for the past five and a half years.

Ruth was born on Feb. 27, 1915, at Moscow, Idaho, to Carmie J. and Flora Healy Litch.

She married Clinton Wert on Nov. 22, 1936 in the house where she was born.

The family moved to the Bull Lake area in 1948 to operate the Bull Lake grocery store until they moved to Troy in 1954.

Ruth worked at KenslerĀ¹s Market and was a member of Kootenai Chapter No. 88 of the Order of Eastern Star. She later belonged to Parker Chapter No. 96, Florida OES.

Ruth and Clint left Troy in 1966 and traveled for several years before settling in Brewster, Wash., in 1977.

They later moved to East Wenatchee, where Clint died in 1985.

Ruth moved to Florida in 1993 and lived there until moving to Republic in 1999.

Survivors include son, Barton and his wife Carla, Republic, son Wayne and his wife Molly, Parker, Fla., five grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and three step-great-great grandsons.
