Gloria Skranak

Gloria L. Skranak, 78, a longtime Libby resident, died on Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, at her home.

She was born on April 14, 1927, at Fairview, to Arthur and Ethel Wetenkanp Hoefner.

When she was eight years old, Gloria traveled by train from Fairview to Libby with her mother.

Gloria attended Libby High School, graduating with the Class of 1946.

On May 16, 1951, Gloria and Frank Skranak were married in the old St. John Lutheran Church.

In 1974 Gloria, a lifetime member of the congregation, started working as the secretary at St. John Lutheran Church.

She enjoyed her cabin at Bull Lake, playing the piano and collecting antiques.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband Frank.

Survivors include her four children, David Skranak and his wife Elizabeth, Eureka; Duane Skranak and his wife Lois, Libby; Carolyn Treadway and her husband Edward, Missoula, and Mike Skranak and his wife Janiece, Pinehurst, Idaho; sister Dorothy Nelson, Eureka; brother Ken Hoefner and his wife Carol of Billings and several grandchildren.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 26, at St. John Lutheran Church.

Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. on Thursday.

Local arrangements are under direction of the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home.
