Walter Kammeyer

Former Libby resident Walter R. Kammeyer, 92, who had lived at Ephrata, Wash., died on Aug. 14, 2005, at Troutdale, Ore.

Walter was born on Oct. 30, 1912, at Libby, to William and Frieda Kammeyer. He graduated from Libby High School with the Class of 1931.

He attended the University of Montana at Missoula and Pasadena Junior College in Pasadena, Calif., and served as a master sergeant and meteorologist with the Army Air Force during World War II.

Walter married Florence Erickson on Aug. 7, 1944.

He retired in 1972 after 33 years of government service.

Survivors include his son Steven Kammeyer, Troutdale, daughter Elaine and her husband Mark Blaufuss, Fargo, N.D., grandchildren Jeffrey, Timothy, Patrick and Gregory Blaufuss of North Dakota, and sisters Edith Carr, Eugene, Ore., and Joyce Boyles, Corning, Calif.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. at the Community Church at Soap Lake, Wash., with burial to follow at Valley View Cemetery in Soap Lake.

Nicoles Funeral Home of Ephrata is in charge of arrangements.
