Thank you for Fran

A benefit for Fran Stanton is scheduled for Saturday at the Troy VFW.

If there is anything in this life such as karma or joss then this fundraiser should be an overwhelming success.

I doubt if anyone, including Fran, can tally the number of benefits that Fran has organized for individuals or various groups — as well as the Troy Easter Egg Hunt. It seems like for the past 13 years I've been here, Fran's been in the newspaper organizing some sort of fundraiser.

Well, it's time for everyone to repay her.

Last month a fire destroyed Fran's Varietyland, a longtime fixture in downtown Troy.

The fundraiser at the VFW begins at 1 p.m. with a pool tournament, karaoke, all-you-eat potluck, raffle tickets and an auction.

Plus, a special account has been established at First National Bank of Troy in Fran Stanton's name.

It's time for both Libby and Troy to step up and thank one of its more community-minded citizens.
