Helen Doble

Helen Barbara Doble, 80, of Eureka, died on April 23, 2005, at the Mountain View Manor in Eureka.

She was born on March 27, 1925, to Xen and Agnes Bernhard at their homestead north of Eureka, one of six children.

Helen attended several area schools and graduated from the Lincoln County High School with the Class of 1945.

She met Sam Doble at a dance in 1946 and they were married in 1947.

Sam and Helen lived at Rexford until they moved to Stryker in 1961.

An outdoorswoman, Helen loved life in Stryker. She drove school bus for the Stryker-Trego route from 1960-1963, worked seasonal jobs for the U.S. Forest Service for 10 years and also worked as a groundskeeper for Lincoln Electric for several years.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Eureka for more than 60 years.

She enjoyed riding her horses, hiking, camping, hunting and caring for her dogs and cats.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Sam, infant daughter Donna, infant son Henry John, and brother Cecil Bernhard.

Survivors include her son Sam and his wife Janice, Polson; brothers Maurice and Roger Bernhard, Eureka and Allen Bernhard, Libby; sister Beverly O'Brien and her husband Louis, Libby, grandchildren Josh, Justin and Shilah Doble, Polson, Danica Doble, Great Falls, and great-granddaughter Kayely Doble, Potlatch, Idaho.

Services are being conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, at the First Baptist Church in Eureka under direction of the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home of Eureka.
