Pretty streets won't bring people to Libby

To the Editor:

I thought economic development meant to build, expand or develop something that would increase the economy. Why not do that? We need something in Libby that would bring in the money!

In the past few years through Rotary Basketball and Volleyball I have traveled hundreds of miles, spent hundreds of dollars to watch my children play sports. I have always felt the younger you train your children in sports the better they would be in high school. I also thought of the money, parents from all over the state, are willing to do the same.

Wouldn't it be nice if Libby had a facility to hold tournaments at home, bring in the same parents, spend their money in our town?

Built it - they will come. There's something about parents, sports and competition that we are willing to spend our money on our children! What a thought!

In my opinion they will not travel hundreds of miles, spend hundreds of dollars to see a pretty street.

Build a Civic Center large enough where Libby can hold divisionals or state tourneys. A place where our children don't have to fight for floor space for practice.

Bring the people here for a reason (sports) not a pretty street.

Besides a pretty street was tried a few years ago - it didn't last.
