Kenni Ann Schauer

| March 8, 2022 7:00 AM

Kenni Ann Schauer was born July 23, 1943, and passed away from esophageal cancer March 1, 2022. Kenni Ann was born in Marianna, Fla., to Kenneth and Alice Trow.

She married Arthur (Rocky) Schauer on Nov. 22, 1961. Their first daughter, Anna (Marcus Craig), was born in 1963. She was followed by little sister, Alice (Gary Luehr), in 1964 and lastly by their son, Kenneth (Shiloh), in 1975.

Mom is survived by her husband of 60 years, Rocky; her three children; seven grandchildren, Cassie (Diego), Caitie (Max), Brian (Brianna), Anne Marie (Camron), Lydia, Dawson and Ellis; and great-granddaughter, Eva.

Kenni’s father was in the U.S. Air Force and she lived in many different places. She had very fond memories of Fairbanks, Alaska, and often talked about her adventures there. The family settled in Vaughn and Kenni graduated from Simms High School, which is where she met Rocky. Kenni graduated from Eastern Montana School with a degree in education.

Rocky, Kenni Ann and their two girls moved to Libby in 1969. Both she and Rocky taught in the Libby school system for many years and each retired following full and satisfying careers. She taught second grade, fifth grade, sixth grade and seventh grade math and English.

In the late 1970s, Kenni and Rocky were instrumental in recruiting Gonzaga University to provide remote learning so that many Libby teachers could receive their master’s degrees in education. Upon retiring, she continued to teach for the University of Phoenix.

Kenni loved animals and was responsible for finding the furrever homes for many fur-faced friends. There are few friends or family members who did not end up providing loving homes for Kenni’s rescues. We often talked about the number of animals that would be there to greet her when she returned to her heavenly home.

She was active in many clubs and charities. During the last three and a half years, when cancer weakened her body, she kept active by crocheting lapgans, fingerless gloves and hats. She donated more than 100 lapgans to those who would benefit from their warmth. She also took great joy in creating one-of-a-kind cards to send to family and friends.

Thank you to all friends and family members who have reached out to Rocky, Anna, Alice and Ken during this difficult time. Thank you to Logan Health Hospice (Diana, Dana, and Nancy) who helped keep Kenni comfortable during her final week of life. Thank you to Pastor Thomas, whose daily visits and scripture readings gave comfort to Kenni and her family.

Kenni Ann — wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend — will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Kenni Ann to either Kootenai Pets for Life or the Flathead Valley Community College Iliff/Schauer Scholarship fund

Her memorial service will be June 18 to allow safe travels for those who wish to attend. Funeral services will be held at St. John Lutheran Church and followed by a celebration of Kenni’s life at the family ranch.
