Jesse Robert Scheffler

| January 25, 2022 7:00 AM

Jesse Robert Scheffler (“Bumps” to his family) went to be with the Lord on Jan. 12, 2022, at the age of 47 due to complications from multiple sclerosis. He was born July 9, 1974, in Kent, Wash., to George Edmund Scheffler and Susan Marie (Daroszeski) Scheffler.

He later moved to Troy and then Anchorage, Alaska, and finally Deforest, Wisc. He graduated from Deforest High School in Wisconsin.

He was close with his older brother, Eddie, and spent a lot of time with him prior to Eddie’s passing in 2008. Their mother, Susan, had multiple sclerosis for many years. Jesse lived with and helped care for her until she required skilled nursing. She passed in 2015.

When he was stronger, he had worked as a cook. He loved it and often talked about how he really missed being able to work.

He is survived by his father, George, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He made some lifelong friends along the way who looked after him and cared for him in his final years, taking him to church services and medical appointments, going grocery shopping with him or just hanging out.

He was very devoted to his cat Anastasia and refused to get the care he needed in order to remain her companion.

He will be remembered for his love of Jesus, unconditional appreciation for others and an upbeat outlook on life despite the incredible physical difficulties he faced.

He always had a deep love for both his Montana and Wisconsin roots, and connection with his family and friends. He longed to come out for reunions and was sad when it became too difficult to travel. Many supported him via Facebook due to the distance they all were from each other.

His sweet soul will live on in all of us.
