Lincoln County Fair begins Thursday in Eureka

It’s fair time in Lincoln County and three days of fun and festivities begin Thursday at the grounds in Eureka.

The 4-H action begins at 8 a.m. Thursday with the market animal show. The dog show starts at 5:30 p.m.

Friday, fair goers will be able to see the horse, rabbit, poultry and pocket pet show along with judging in a variety of adult and youth divisions.

In the evening, the Friday Night Games will be held in the arena from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. followed by the 4-H Family Dance in the pavilion.

Saturday morning, the top showmen will compete for all-around showman in the round robin competition and the open class horse show will also be held.

The Lincoln County Youth Livestock Auction will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday. There will be about 20 market beef, 63 market hogs, 20 market sheep and one market goat.

Market livestock buyers will receive tickets to The Bull Thing, which will be at 7 p.m. For those interested in a buy-back animal at the auction, call 296-9019 before Saturday. Buy-back animals are available on a random draw basis.

Also, the 4-H Council will be auctioning off a traveling plaque of Sacagawea coins. The money is used to send 4-Hers and volunteer leaders to camps, leadership seminars, state and national competitions.

Also, there will be a free concert (Oldies But Goodies with Holly VanBemmel) from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday on the Food Court Free Stage.

The 16th Annual Karaoke Challenge will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on the Food Court Free Stage. To sign up, call VanBemmel at 297-3310.

Kidsville will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. There will be rides, games and booths, including a mechanical bull, toddler zone and bounces houses.

The Community Gardens will be open from noon to 3 p.m. each day.

General exhibit barn hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
