The Libby Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire near the intersection of Second Street and Montana Avenue in Libby on Jan. 23.

Fire Marshall Steve Lauer said the cause of the blaze, which burned a job site employee trailer is still under investigation. A crew of 14 firefighters, two engines and the department's command center responded. Flathead Electric Cooperative sent a team to the site to repair a power disconnect. Lauer said no one was injured in the fire.

The blaze originated in the bedroom of the trailer, according to Lauer. One employee was sleeping in the room when the fire started. Lauer said the employee called dispatch around 2:45 p.m. Firefighters were on the scene for roughly an hour.

The fire burned through the trailer and caused minor damage to the adjacent building. Lauer said the owner of the building was using the trailer to house employees while they worked on the roof of the structure. The job site was properly permitted according to Lauer.

Firefighters inspecting the trailer found no smoke alarms inside.
