2:26 p.m.

Animal coplaint

Lincoln County Sheriffs Office deputies responded to the North Ridge Way area after receiving a report of a dog biting a state child protective services worker. The state employee was later taken to the hospital for treatment.

3:21 p.m.

Child custody

A Libby resident told police that the minor’s biological mother took her grandchild. Authorities later located the child.

Aug. 17

12:35 a.m.

Disturbance

Libby police officers responded to Minnesota Avenue after receiving a 911 call from a woman claiming that a drunken man was refusing to leave her home. The man left on a bicycle before officers arrived on scene. The woman asked to trespass him.

9:56 a.m.

Public assistance

Libby police officers attempted to perform a welfare check on a child reported to be at Firemans Park. Arriving officers were unable to find the child.

9:59 a.m.

Animal complaint

A Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputy was asked to come to Troy to pick up a dead bat.

10:58 a.m.

Traffic stop

Libby police officers gave a motorist a warning for speeding on U.S. Highway 2 near Bowen Hill. They also cited the driver for failing to have insurance.

12:52 p.m.

Suspicious activity

A Forest Way resident told authorities he recently bought a gun online. When he asked the seller to send it to him, the seller required a postal box.

1:08 p.m.

Harassment, threat, intimidate

A Libby resident reported receiving threatening text messages from an ex-partner. She requested law enforcement make contact with the individual.

2:47 p.m.

Public assistance

A man asked to speak with Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies about a gate put up on a county road.

4:10 p.m.

Traffic accident

A caller reported a hit-and-run accident. The collision left her car with minor damage.

4:18 p.m.

Burglary

A local shop reported a burglary at some point during the previous night. The burglars made off with frozen meat.

7:05 p.m.

Animal complaint

Authorities received a report of a dog bite near Lake Koocanusa.

8:14 p.m.

Suspicious person

Libby police officers responded to Main Avenue for a report of a man wandering the area and acting strangely. Officers located the man near the Flower Creek bridge.

9:11 p.m.

Disturbance

A caller reported two men for arguing next to her Minnesota Avenue home.

Disturbance

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a U.S. Highway 2 home after a woman reported that her boyfriend was drunk and being verbally abusive. She had gone to a neighbor’s home, but said her children were still with him.

9:22 p.m.

Warrant

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies picked up a man wanted on a felony warrant near mile marker 19 of Yaak River Road. U.S. Border Patrol agents had caught the man.

11:20 p.m.

Traffic violation

A county resident asked to sign a complaint form for a woman speeding up and down her road on an all-terrain vehicle. The woman said the driver lacked a valid driver’s license.

Aug. 18

1 a.m.

Civil complaint

A Westgate Avenue resident told authorities that his wife was taking paperwork and firearms from his home.

8:30 a.m.

Animal complaint

A Champion Haul Road resident told authorities he suspected an individual had opened his gate. Some of his cows had gotten out. He was still missing a longhorn, a heifer and a calf.

9:01 a.m.

Fire

BNSF workers reported a fire about three feet in size near mile marker 19 of Wolf Creek Road. The fire had since been extinguished, but the crew wanted it reported to the U.S. Forest Service.

10:17 a.m.

Suspicious activity

A Tamarack Lane resident reported reviewing security camera footage of his home and seeing flashlights outside the residence about 3 a.m. He provided Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies with the video.

10:44 a.m.

Animal complaint

Authorities received multiple 911 calls about an Angus bull running free on U.S. Highway 2.

12:03 p.m.

Disturbance

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies received a report of an argument at a home near Airstrip Road.

3:13 p.m.

Criminal trespass

A Three Corners Road resident asked to trespass a man they had previously asked to stay away from their property.

Drugs, drug paraphernalia

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies investigated a case of drugs or drug paraphernalia in an undisclosed location.

3:58 p.m.

Public safety

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies received a report of three juveniles speeding along a bike trail on a four-wheeler. None of the minors were wearing a helmet. Deputies were unable to locate the trio.

4:16 p.m.

Disturbance

Libby Dam officials asked for Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies help with dealing with a disruptive male camper near Souse Gulch.

Theft

A theft was reported at a local bank.

A Mary Lane resident reported spotting a cougar.
