Hoffman arraigned for drug possession

| September 1, 2020 7:00 AM

Nearly a year after his arrest, Christopher Hoffman was arraigned on a criminal possession of dangerous drugs charge in Lincoln County District Court.

Authorities arrested Hoffman on Sept. 7, 2019, for driving under the influence in Troy. In an affidavit, Troy Police Chief Katie Davis recalled bringing Hoffman back to the Lincoln County Detention Center and inventorying his belongings.

During the search, authorities found a small baggie with a white powdery substance inside the case of his phone, according to the affidavit.

On Sept. 9, 2019, authorities sent the contents of the baggie to the state crime lab for analysis. In June 2020, Davis learned from the lab that the bag contained methamphetamine.

An omnibus hearing is scheduled for Nov. 16 with a pretrial conference slated for Dec. 7. Were the case to go to trial, it would begin Jan. 12.
