Finney Noel Ueland, 91

| March 13, 2020 11:24 AM

Finney Noel Ueland passed away Feb. 27, 2020, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho at the age of 91. Finney was born the youngest of nine siblings on Dec. 21, 1928, to John and Alma Ueland in Wirt, Minn.

After graduating high school, he left the land of 10,000 lakes to join the U.S. Army. When his time in the Army was over, he found himself in Creston, Wash. This is where he would meet — and quickly marry — the love of his life, Joanna Heinriches.

Shortly after their wedding on Oct. 27, 1951, the couple moved to Troy. Here, Finney began his nearly 40-year career in the sawmill industry as a saw filer with J. Neils Lumber Co.

In 1952, the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter: Debbie. Four years later, their first son, Galen, was born. Twin babies, Mike and Marsha, arrived in 1962. Another set of twins, David and Donald, were born in 1964. Finney enjoyed spending time with his family on their farm in Troy.

Finney was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 51 years and seven of his siblings. He is survived by his sister, Signe Ferguson, and his children, Debbie Irvine of Lubbock, Texas; Galen (Lani) Ueland of Vancouver, Wash.; Mike Ueland of Heron; Marsha (Dave) Westphal of Heron; David Ueland of Libby; and Don Ueland of Heron; and nine grand-children and five great-grand-children.
