Ryan Dean Johnson

| June 5, 2020 8:35 AM

Ryan Dean Johnson left this world far too soon on May 23, 2020. He was residing in St. Maries, Idaho, at the time of his death.

Ryan was born Oct. 15, 1978, in Spokane to Ray and Doreen Johnson of Libby, Montana.

Ryan was an energetic and adventurous child who loved trying new things. He brought his parents endless amounts of entertainment and happiness.

In 1997, Ryan graduated from Libby High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in forestry from the University of Montana and a master’s degree in business administration from Boise State University. Ryan spent most of his career working for the U.S. Forest Service.

Ryan married the love of his life, Amanda Johnson, on Nov. 20, 2018. Friends since childhood, Ryan and Amanda fell in love in May 2017.

Ryan was a sensitive soul with a huge heart. His major desire in life was trying to make the ones he loved happy. He brought love, laughter and light to the people who had the pleasure of knowing him well. The abbreviated John Muir quote, “The mountains are calling and I must go” expressed Ryan’s heart. He spent many hours exploring new trails and old favorites. He loved hunting, hiking and skiing.

Ryan is survived in death by his wife, Amanda, and their baby, who will be born in January 2021. Ryan has two daughters — Rylee, 10, and Alia, 7 — from a previous marriage. Ryan is also survived in death by his parents, Ray and Doreen Johnson.

A service is not planned at this time owing to COVID-19 restrictions. An online memorial has been created at Gatheringus.com to express condolences and share memories of Ryan with the family.
