Suspicious activity

A Timber Lane resident reported hearing a noise akin to a human screaming or a wounded animal.

1:57 a.m.

Animal complaint

Authorities learned of a black Labrador retriever, possibly a stray, wandering Hidden Cove Road and barking. A resident attempted to shoo it away, but the dog became aggressive.

7:20 a.m.

Suspicious activity

A resident out on his deck spotted what looked like a plume of smoke rising between Libby and Troy. Authorities alerted the Forest Service.

8:32 a.m.

City ordinance violation

Libby police officers handled a city ordinance violation on Utah Avenue.

9:14 a.m.

Motor vehicle theft

A Hamann Avenue resident reported a stolen vehicle.

9:43 a.m.

Fish and game

A local business reported the presence of a troublesome bear.

12:02 p.m.

Criminal trespass

Authorities responded to a trespass report on Commerce Way.

Criminal trespass

Libby police officers investigated a report of trespassers at an abandoned house on Utah Avenue. The trespassers turned out to be juveniles. Officers warned the juveniles to stay out of the house.

4:14 p.m.

Disturbance

A caller reported a man drinking and yelling at children across the street from him. He also threatened to physically harm the children.

5:01 p.m.

Public safety

Montana Highway Patrol troopers mounted an unsuccessful search for a light blue Toyota Prius on Farm To Market Road. The motorist reportedly was driving recklessly, speeding and crossing the traffic lines.

5:26 p.m.

Public safety

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies cited a motorist for careless driving. A 911 caller alerted authorities to the vehicle, a truck towing a trailer, after it was seen allegedly speeding and passing unsafely.

7 p.m.

Sex crime

A caller reported spotting “potentially inappropriate” photographs of her children on a friend’s social media page.

7:13 p.m.

Disturbance

A motorist abandoned his car and fled on foot near Vicks Lane after authorities responded to a report of a man speeding through the neighborhood.

9:50 p.m.

Public assistance

Libby police officers responded to a report of an intoxicated man near the intersection of Larch Street and Montana Avenue.

June 17

12:50 a.m.

Disturbance

Libby police officers responded to a report of two men yelling and screaming while throwing objects at signs. Officers found the pair, who agreed to head home. The two were instructed to keep the noise down.

7:50 a.m.

Suspicious activity

Authorities learned of a group of people living on Forest Service property about a mile up Pipe Creek Road.

11:53 a.m.

Disturbance

An East Cedar Street resident reported a neighbor’s barking dog. The animal barks day and night. The caller said they had alerted authorities about the problem previously, but had seen no change in behavior as a result.
