July 22

3:05 a.m.

Suspicious activity

An East Lincoln Boulevard resident reported an individual prowling around outside of her home. She could hear footsteps, but did not see anyone. Libby police officers responded to the scene.

7:08 a.m.

Suspicious activity

A U.S. Highway 2 resident reported ongoing friction with a neighbor. The resident claimed the neighbor had set traps for local cats. Meanwhile, the resident was missing a cat. The resident also said the neighbor strolled around at night swinging a hammer with a spike attached to it.

7:40 a.m.

Runaway

A Troy resident reported that his 15-year-old son had gone missing in Libby. The teenager lived in town with his mother and the night prior had told her that he was planning to sleep outside. Instead, he spent the evening rummaging around in the garage and then vanished.

8:09 a.m.

Scam

A state Highway 37 resident told authorities she contacted an advertiser she saw online and gave them her Social Security number and date of birth.

9:57 a.m.

Criminal mischief

Authorities learned that one or more individuals had torn a pay station out of the ground near Horseshoe Lake.

10:08 a.m.

Suspicious activity

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies investigated suspicious activity near Robbe Way.

10:56 a.m.

Criminal mischief

Authorities learned that one or more individuals had vandalized mailboxes at a local storage unit facility.

5:45 p.m.

Animal complaint

A West Poplar Street resident reported seeing a “thin and unhealthy” looking dog wandering around the neighborhood.

6:54 p.m.

Assault

A Reese Court resident told authorities that his brother came into his house, struck him and then fled.

9:54 p.m.

Public safety

Libby police officers responded to the intersection of 5th Street and Montana Avenue for a report of a kid riding a dirt bike on the roadway, speeding and popping wheelies.

July 23

12:59 a.m.

Suspicious person

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived at the U.S. Forest Service building for a report of a suspicious person.

1:23 a.m.

Suspicious vehicle

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies investigated a report of a suspicious vehicle near a shuttered former supermarket.

1:31 a.m.

Suspicious activity

A Pinkham Creek Road resident reported seeing flashlights moving in the dark toward a neighbor’s house.

2:10 a.m.

Animal complaint

A U.S. Highway 2 resident reported catching a cat in a live trap. He requested law enforcement come and pick up the animal.

4:17 a.m.

Criminal mischief

Libby police officers ended up detaining an individual with a concealed firearm after responding to a report of two people opening car doors and setting off alarms on East 8th Street. The individual, a juvenile, was taken to the Sandpoint Detention Center.

7:19 a.m.

Animal complaint

A Nevada Avenue resident told authorities that her neighbor’s two large dogs frequently run loose. They came into her yard and went after her Yorkshire terriers. Authorities spoke with the dogs’ owner, who agreed to repair a hole in the fence that the animals were using.

July 24

8:03 a.m.

Suspicious activity

A caller reported spotting the same kayak along the edge of the water two days in a row.

10:20 a.m.

Public assistance

A widower told authorities he was planning on holding a ceremony for his late wife, who had died in January. The man worried that it may result in family troubles.

12:28 p.m.

Disturbance

A U.S. Highway 2 resident told authorities that his neighbor was on her property and yelling obscene names at him.

5:24 p.m.

Public assistance

Multiple emergency services agencies responded to Lake Koocanusa for a report of a man who jumped off of a boat into the water and did not resurface.

5:29 p.m.

Ambulance call

Emergency responders were called to mile marker 63 of U.S. Highway 2 for a report of an unresponsive man lying on the side of the road with a bicycle. The call was cancelled after it was determined that the man was sleeping.

9:06 p.m.

Warrant

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Bohdan Yakovenko on an outstanding warrant at J. Neils Memorial Park. He was held on a $25,000 bond.

9:11 p.m.

Theft

A caller reported losing a tent at a campground near Mount Marston during a large storm. The individual later learned that someone else may have recovered the camping equipment.

9:11 p.m.

Civil complaint

A caller reported that a man pulled out in front of her and her children, blocking their path, and told them they could not walk along the road.

9:36 p.m.

Drugs, drug paraphernalia

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies found drugs on an individual in J. Neils Memorial Park.

July 25

12:57 a.m.

Suspicious activity

Libby police officers responded to the intersection of 5th Street and Montana Avenue for a report of a man dragging a mattress in plastic. The man allegedly was yelling about getting a free mattress. Responding officers did not find the man, but located the mattress.

8:15 a.m.

Disturbance

Libby police officers detained a runaway juvenile and recovered a motor vehicle reported stolen out of Kalispell after responding to a call at a local church. The caller told authorities that a motorist was doing brodies with a black convertible in the church parking lot.

11:57 a.m.

Harassment, threat, intimidation

A Forest Drive resident reported seeing his neighbor get threatened by his son-in-law.

1:54 p.m.

Disturbance

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Taylor Road for a report of a woman screaming.

3:22 p.m.

Criminal mischief

A U.S. Highway 2 resident reported that a child was throwing rocks at his window and cursing him. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies met up with the suspect not far from a local carwash.

6:31 p.m.

Disturbance

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Kenneth Drury, 30, on disorderly conduct charges after responding to a disturbance at Three Corner Road.

7:03 p.m.

Disturbance

Authorities responded to J. Neils Memorial Park for a report of a disorderly woman. The call turned out to be unfounded.

7:53 p.m.

Harassment, threat, intimidation

A caller told authorities that a large man with a dark beard harassed her and a member of her family while out on Bull Lake. She said the man accused them of calling him names. He later tried to hit them with a pontoon boat.

8:18 p.m.

Criminal mischief

A caller told authorities that her car had broken down and when she returned to retrieve it, she discovered that someone had inflicted “extensive damage” on the vehicle.

8:50 p.m.

Traffic violation

Authorities gave a motorist a warning for having two license plates on the same vehicle.

10:01 p.m.

Disturbance

A caller reported hearing yelling and screaming coming from a nearby home on Montana Avenue.

10:42 p.m.

Traffic stop

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies citied a motorist for tossing a lit object from the vehicle on state Highway 37.
