The Troy man accused of sexually abusing a minor pleaded not guilty to all charges in Lincoln County District Court on Aug. 11.

Nathan Michael Miller, 41, faces felony charges of sexual assault and sexual abuse of children. Authorities accuse Miller of twice performing sexual acts on and with a boy.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies began investigating Miller after an Idaho-based therapist contacted police officers in Troy with the allegations.

The victim confirmed the incidents during a follow up interview in Idaho. He told investigators that he woke up to Miller performing a sexual act on him two years prior. A second incident occurred in Miller’s Montana apartment, according to court documents.

Miller was known to local law enforcement. Detective Dave Hall wrote in an affidavit that authorities had received cyber tips regarding Miller’s downloading of child pornography.

Lincoln County District Judge Matthew Cuffe scheduled an omnibus hearing for Miller for Sept. 28 with a pre-trial conference to follow on Nov. 2. A tentative trial date was scheduled for Dec. 15.

Miller appeared in court from the Lincoln County Detention Center via Vision Net.

Sexual assault carries a minimum penalty of four years behind bars and a maximum of $50,000 in fines. Sexual abuse of children is punishable by at least 25 years in the state Department of Corrections and a maximum fine of $50,000.
