The Lincoln County Library is hosting a special event Thursday, Oct. 17, celebrating Montana women.

From 5:30-7:30 p.m., the library is hosting a book launch event for the recently published anthology “We Leave the Flowers Where They Are” which brings together stories from female authors about life in Montana.

Local contributors of the book and editor Richard Fifield (“The Flood Girls”) will read from the diverse collection of 41 essays.

Refreshments will be provided by the Libby Friends of the Library.

Lincoln County Crisis Solutions and Trista Gilmore, Lincoln County Public Health Nurse, will be present to highlight the resources available to women and their families in Lincoln County.

Following the readings, a Domestic Violence Awareness Remembrance will be held from 7:45-9 p.m. in honor of domestic violence victim, Sheena Devine, and all of the past, current and future domestic violence victims.

The program will include poetry, song and refreshments. For more information about the remembrance, please contact Lincoln County Crisis Solutions Director, Barb Guthneck at 291-0522.

In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Lincoln County men and women are encouraged to write their own stories about being affected by domestic violence.

Please protect identities by changing names and key facts as the stories may be published.

Stories should be limited to 1,500 words. The deadline is Oct. 31 and stories can be submitted to any Lincoln County Library branch or emailed to aramirez@lincolncountylibraries.com.
