Louis and Ruth Parrish

Louis Parrish, 95, died Jan. 16, 2019, at home with his family. Louis was born Sept. 5, 1923, in Knox City, Missouri, the youngest of four sons.

In 1934, the family moved to Ronan, Montana. Louis graduated from high school in 1941, and went to work at Farmers Gold Medal Dairy and Cheese Factory.

On May 24, 1944, he was drafted into the Army, where he served as an MP while stationed in the Philippines. After he was discharged in May 1946, Louis returned home to Ronan and was employed in the grain elevators there and in Polson.

Louis and Ruth Rider were married on July 18, 1950. In 1953, the family moved to Libby, where Louis was employed at St. Regis Lumber Company until his retirement in 1985.

Ruth Rider Parrish, 86, died on Feb. 3, 2019, at the Libby Care Center. She was born on July 15, 1932, in Waverly, Kansas.

Along the way, Ruth and Louis had three children, Linda (Dave) Pyle; David (Donna); and Betty (Todd) Ziehnert; 11 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

A combined celebration of their lives will be held at Libby VFW Post 1548, 114 West 2nd Street, on Friday, April 19, at 1 p.m.
