Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks game wardens are investigating the illegal killing of a bull elk west of Troy.

The elk was shot and left to waste near the McCormick School west of Troy sometime between the evening of Oct. 20 and the morning of Oct. 21. The carcass was located on private property near Smith Road and Old U.S. Highway 2.

FWP is seeking information from anyone who may have possible information related to the incident.

Anyone with possible information regarding a wildlife or state lands crime is encouraged to contact TIP-MONT, or 1-800-847-6668. Callers remain anonymous. Information can also be submitted online at fwp.mt.gov/enforcement/tipmont. Callers can receive a cash reward if information they provide leads to an arrest.

Poachers are not hunters. They’re criminals and they’re stealing hunting opportunities.
