Museum celebrates 40th anniversary Saturday

The Libby Heritage Museum celebrates its 40th anniversary Saturday, June 2, with living history presentations, equipment demonstrations, music, food and more.

John Davidson, the building chairman during the museum’s construction, is a guest of honor, a news release states

The day begins at 10 a.m. with the cutting of a cake for everyone to enjoy, and lasts until 3 p.m.

Living history presentations include “a short glimpse into the day in a 1901 one-room schoolhouse” at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., and a “Alcohol, Corsets, and the Vote: A Conversation with Mary Long Alderson” at 11:30 a.m.

Other presentations include a program about historic Montana barns, a performance by the Old Town Opera House Theater of Libby, and displays by the Kootenai Muzzleloaders, the Kootenai Valley Quilt Guild and the Lincoln County Amateur Radio Group.

The museum will be open for the season until Sept. 15. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Donations are appreciated for admission.
