In their final weekend before divisionals start Thursday, the Libby High School tennis team packed in matches against Columbia Falls, Stevensville and Ronan Friday and Saturday.

The girls continued their strong season with a 7-0 win against Columbia Falls, a 5-2 win over Stevensville and a 3-0 over a partial Ronan team.

The standout matches for the boys came Saturday against Stevensville, where they won 4-3. The boys also triumphed 3-2 against Ronan.

Head Coach Kyle Hannah said he was extremely happy with how the team played.

“They’re learning the game of tennis, and what it means to forget about their last shot and move on, and not get so frustrated,” he said Saturday.

He said that the win against Stevensville was the result of the continuous improvement the team has made throughout the season.

Though they did not take any wins over the weekend, Libby doubles pair Virgil Sadewasser and Zach Carter are coming along well for only playing doubles tennis for the past week, Hannah said.

The two singles players evaluated their chances in the postseason and decided they had a better chance in doubles than in singles, he said.
