Museum thankful for safety grant

| June 1, 2018 4:00 AM

The Heritage Museum Board of Directors would like to sincerely thank the Flathead Electric Cooperative Roundup for Safety Program for a recent $5,000 grant to relocate the electrical relays at the Museum.

The original electrical relay junction box was built in the crawlspace under the Museum when the 12-sided log building was originally constructed. Annual spring snowmelt had caused flooding in the crawlspace and the electrical connections were not watertight, creating potentially unsafe conditions for the Museum’s volunteers and visitors.

In addition, the historical artifacts preserved and protected above the crawlspace, for the education of future generations, could not be replaced if lost or damaged.

In February, Terry Martens of Skyline Electric of Libby completed the electrical work necessary to make the wire connections in the crawlspace watertight and to relocate the electrical relays up out of the crawlspace and into the Museum’s electrical room.
