Organizers of an upcoming conference in Bozeman that will explore the intersection of faith, science and climate action have invited people from across the state to attend, and a deacon in Troy said she would organize a carpool for interested people.

The Montana Faith and Environment Coalition has scheduled the “Faith, Science and Climate Action Conference” for Oct. 12-13 at the Emerson Center in Bozeman.

“The conference is to facilitate discussion between Montana faith leaders and scientists to address climate change,” a news release states. “The conference will provide tools and resources for attendees to enlist engagement and involvement for more effective climate action.”

According to the news release, speakers will include The Rev. Canon Sally Bingham, one of the first faith leaders to recognize action around changing climate as a moral imperative; Dr. Katharine Hayhoe, an evangelical Christian and atmospheric scientist who directs the Climate Science Center at Texas Tech; and Dr. Bruce Maxwell, co-director of the Institute on Ecosystems at Montana State University.

Angelique Bolling, Deacon at Holy Trinity Church in Troy, said she plans to attend and invites people interested in carpooling to call her at 406-295-9875 or 406-295-7007.
