Cabinet Peaks Medical Center has announced Deanna Hutchison’s becoming a Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician.

The certification recognizes people who have demonstrated the experience, knowledge and skills to provide competent services as a central service technician. CRCST’s are responsible for decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, disassembling, packaging and sterilizing reusable surgical instruments or devices in a health care facility.

To be certified, Hutchison completed 400 hours of hands-on work in a Central Sterile Department, and completed a 150-question exam for which she traveled to Spokane, Washington.

Hutchison must recertify annually by completing continuing education requirements.
