Dorothy F. Brown

| December 4, 2018 3:00 AM

Dorothy F. Brown, 82, of Libby, Mont., was called home by our Father in Heaven on Nov. 24, 2018.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many.

After graduating high school, Dorothy was ready to see the world. She decided the best way to do that was to join the Air Force in 1955. After completing basic training, her first duty station was at Eglin AFB, Florida, where she served as a truck driver.

One day in the motor pool she met a fellow service member who changed her life forever, Sgt. Charles M. Brown. He not only helped show her the world but gave her the moon and the stars. Together they served over 23 years in the Air Force.

A daughter was born in 1957 in Florida, and in 1960 a son was born in Kansas. Time was spent all over the world with, the last duty station at Anderson AFB, Guam. After retiring to Spokane, Wash., they located to Libby.

From the beginnings of a small town in Oregon, she indeed saw the world and so much more.

She was a very hands-on wife and mother, involved in all areas of both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, helping with projects and a member of the NCO Wives Club.

She volunteered for the VFW Auxiliary and was a member of the American Legion. She also volunteered for the standown for over 10 years. She loved being with and helping her brothers and sisters of the Armed Forces. She was a member of Libby Christian Church.

She loved and relished her family, friends and loved life to its fullest. She lived out her final days at the Hospice Living Center at Spokane VA Hospital. She might have lost her five-year battle to cancer, but she did not go down without a fight, and in the end she won the battle. She will be and is truly missed.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Brown, Sr., February 2005.

She is survived by her daughter Cherry (Steve) Voss, and granddaughter Raevynn of Libby, her son Charles Brown, Jr. of Whitefish, grandson Tony Brown and family Brandi and Raymond Brown of Post Falls, Idaho. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Evelyn Williamson of Anderson, S.C.

We miss you and love you.

Services will be held at a later date.
