Thanks to a 5-0 Libby City Council vote on April 16, Libby VFW Post No. 1548 will be able to add 12-15 curbside parking spaces, including at least twice the handicapped spaces it currently has.

The additional parking spaces — all diagonal — will be located on the north side of the 100 blocks of West Second and East Second streets.

Council member Brian Zimmerman, who sits on the lights/streets/sidewalks committee in which the matter had previously been discussed, noted before the Council vote that the width of the street in both directions should easily accommodate the new spaces.

Zimmerman and his fellow councilors Gary Beach, Kristin Smith, Peggy Williams and Hugh Taylor all voted in favor of the project, which could be completed in early June.
