AT&T says local 'transport issues' caused problems

The service problems that area AT&T wireless customers faced late last week have been resolved and were due to issues with the company’s local service provider, a company spokesperson said Thursday.

“We’re working closely with them (CenturyLink) to fix this problem,” said Suzanne Trantow, lead public relations manager for AT&T’s Rocky Mountain region on Thursday. “We’ve escalated this issue really high up in our organization.”

On Monday, she said “service has been restored and running normally since the repair.”

The problems, which some residents complained about on Facebook, included the inability to make phone calls and came about a week after a earlier reports of similar issues plaguing the network.

Trantow did not indicate whether the issues were related. She also did not know what happened or how, or how many customers were affected.

She described the problem as “a transport issue.”

The timing of the problems has been unfortunate, Trantow said, because AT&T plans to upgrade equipment in the area later this year.
