Ronald J. 'Ron' Halsey

Ronald J. “Ron” Halsey, 81, passed away in his home surrounded by family on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017. He was born June 18, 1936 in Libby to Charles and Jeannette Halsey. He was the seventh child in his family and attended the Libby School system. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1954 and served four years upon receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1958.

On Aug. 31, 1960 he married Donna Enge. Donna fell in love with Ron upon first sight along with his calming demeanor and fantastic sense of humor. Ron worked for W.R. Grace from 1959 until 1962. He also was a logger and truck driver for many years. In 1977 he owned and operated a fuel business for 25 years. Ron enjoyed wildlife and navigating his vintage 1946 Taylor Craft plane around the beautiful surroundings of Libby. He will be dearly missed by friends and family.

Thank you to the VA Hospice for all your care to Ron. We want to express our gratitude to Jewell for your comfort to Ron and our family. Ron was preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Jeannette, Babe (little brother) Richard, Dan, Helen and Hazel.

Survivors include his wife Donna of Libby; a sister Grace Graeber of Kingman, Arizona; daughter Carla Jones (Doug) of Missoula; son Darrell Halsey (Grace) of Tucson, Arizona; son, Kent Halsey of Castle Rock, Colorado; two grandsons; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Ron’s life will be announced at a later date. Donations may be made to the Libby Volunteer Ambulance, 307 Montana Ave., Libby, MT, 59923.
