Lincoln County Public Libraries announce June events

Lincoln County Public Libraries on May 17 announced its June programs. All events are free and open to the public.

The summer reading theme is “Build a Better World” and will explore engineering, art, architecture and civic engagement. Stop by a library to register and to pick up summer reading materials.

The Eureka library summer reading programs are Thursdays beginning at 11:30 a.m. For more information call 406-296-2613.

The Troy library summer reading programs are Tuesdays at noon and will include berry planting, a nature walk and building cardboard forts and castles. For more information call 406-295-4040.

The Troy library will host chess games Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. All ages and experience levels welcome. Bring yourself, a partner and your favorite board. We also have boards available as well as a player/teacher/mentor and challenger. For more information call 406-295-4040.

Capitol Christmas Tree Ornament Making: The Kootenai National Forest will supply the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree this year. Visit any branch library to help make ornaments to decorate the trees and show off the “beauty of the big sky.” A special ornament will be featured each month and supplies for the ornaments will be provided while they last. Please call a library for details.

June 2, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.: The Libby Friends of the Library are having a book sale that includes movies and music CDs.

June 6, 10 a.m.: Summer Reading Program, ages three to 12, at J. Neils Memorial Park in Libby.

June 7, 11:45 a.m.: Please join us in celebrating the life of library volunteer and advocate Mary Hebenstreit. The Libby Friends of the Library have created a special space in her honor at the Libby library.

June 13, 10 a.m.: Summer Reading Program, ages three to 12, at J. Neils Memorial Park in Libby. Discover nature with Cass Hopkinson.

June 17, 11 a.m.: The Libby Library presents “A Hot Drink and A Good Book,” its monthly book discussion. This month features The Art of Fielding by Chad Harbach. When a routine baseball throw goes off course, the fates of five people hang in the balance. Each must confront his or her demons, forge new friendships and discover a new path. Copies are available at the library.

June 20, 10 a.m.: Summer Reading Program, ages 3 to 12, at J. Neils Memorial Park in Libby.

June 27, 10 a.m.: Summer Reading Program, ages three to 12, at J. Neils Memorial Park in Libby.

June 30: The last Friday of every month is Amnesty Day at Lincoln County Public Libraries. Any materials less than 90 days overdue which are returned in good condition to any of the three libraries on that day will have all penalties waived. Overdue interlibrary loan materials are not included.
