Carl Leo Orsborn, Jr.

Carl Leo Orsborn, Jr. of Libby, known to friends and family as the “hardest working man on the planet,” passed away April 27, 2017, with his three children and dogs by his side. He was 61.

Carl was born March 15, 1956 in Libby to Elvira and Carl L. Orsborn. He attended kindergarten through the 12th grade in Libby schools, during which time he became an Eagle Scout. He later attended Sage Trucking School in Missoula and Oxarc Welding School in Spokane. He served in the U.S. Army in 1974 and over the course of his career worked as a logger, truck driver, oil rig dewaterer, a welder, a sawyer and a meat cutter. Carl married his wife Rebecca in Libby on July 15, 2011.

Carl loved to fish, hunt and camp, and counted leather work and horse hair work as his favorite hobbies.

Carl is survived by his parents; his children, Jeremy Sullivan of Boulder, Montana, Cricket Orsborn of Libby, Peggy Whilpe of Kalispell, Tori Somerlott of Libby and Mikyla Somerlott of Missoula; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister Lori Orsborn, brother Jim Orsborn, and grandparents Dee and Rachel Shriner and Leo and Stell Orsborn.

Services will be held 3 p.m. June 3, 2017 at his home at 61 Reserve Rd. in Libby, and will include a potluck and barbecue. Friends and family are invited, and asked to bring chairs.
