Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness is offering two series of family-friendly hikes this summer in both the Idaho and Montana portions of the Scotchmans, according to a news release.

“We’ll be going at the kids’ pace for these hikes; checking out sticks, listening to the birds and really focusing on the journey and experience,” states Assistant Program Coordinator Britta Mireley in the news release. “This is a great opportunity for families to breathe in some fresh air, explore our beautiful area and maybe even make some new friends.”

Staff-led Moms and Kids Hikes will take place June 28 and July 19 on Historic Star Peak Trail No. 999 and at the Ross Creek Cedars, respectively.

Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness is also partnering with Bonner Homeless Transitions for the fourth consecutive year to promote children enjoying the great outdoors, the news release states. Families with children 13 and under are invited to participate in these Community Kids Hikes. These hikes will be on Regal Creek Trail No. 556 and Morris Creek Trail No. 132 on June 30, the Ross Creek Cedars Nature Loop on July 21, and Big Eddy Trail No. 999 on Aug. 11.
