Libraries' full calendar for January

The Lincoln County Public Libraries will be presenting a full calendar of programs during the month of February. All events are free and open to the public.

The Eureka library will host story time for preschool age children every Thursday at 11:30 a.m.

The Libby library will host story time for preschool age children every Tuesday at 10 a.m. This month’s theme: “Fairy Tales with a Twist.”

The Troy library will host story time for preschool age children every Friday at 11:15 a.m. Story time includes books, a craft and a snack.

The Troy library will host chess games every Saturday from 11:30-2 p.m. All ages and experience levels welcome. Bring yourself, a partner, and your favorite board. They also have boards available as well as a player/teacher/mentor and challenger. For more information please call Stacy at (406) 295-4040.

February 3, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.: Book Sale: the Libby Friends of the Library are having a book sale. The entrance is on Main Street across from the post office. Stop by and check out the books, movies and music cds. It’s a great way to support your library.

February 7, 10 a.m.: Preschool Story Time: join us at the Libby library for the true story of the three little pigs. We’ll hear how a simple request for a cup of sugar turned one wolf into a villain!

February 9, 4 p.m.: Afterschool Program, ages 5-12: join us at the Libby Elementary School for Mad Science: Marshmallow Tower! The task is simple: construct the tallest tower using marshmallows and toothpicks. May the odds be ever in your favor.

February 14, 10 a.m.: Preschool Story Time: join us at the Libby library for some ninja chicken action! Hansel and Gretel must use their ninja skills to save their dad from a tricky fox before he can be stir-fried!

February 18: Closed in observance of President’s Day Holiday.

February 21, 10 a.m.: Preschool Story Time: join us at the Libby library for a cosmic twist on a classic fairy tale. With a little help from her fairy god robot, Cinderella is going to the ball. But when the prince’s ship has mechanical trouble, someone will have to zoom to the rescue!

February 23, 4 p.m.: Afterschool Program, ages 5-12: join us at the Libby Elementary School for Mad Science: Fizzy Dough! Start with simple dough to mold and play with and watch what happens when a special ingredient turns the dough into a fizzy eruption!

February 24: Amnesty Day: the last Friday of every month is Amnesty Day at the Lincoln County Public Libraries. Any materials less than 90 days overdue which are returned in good condition to any of the three libraries on that day will have all penalties waived. Overdue interlibrary loan materials are not included.

February 25, 11 a.m.: Book Discussion: join us at the Libby Library for “A Hot Drink and A Good Book,” our monthly book discussion. This month features The Orchardist by Amanda Coplin. When two young girls show up on his orchard after stealing fruit at the market, William Talmadge’s reclusive peace is shattered. He must find a way to both help the girls and come to terms with his own past. Copies are available at the library.

February 25, 1 p.m.: Writing Group: meet other aspiring local writers at the Libby library. Writers of all genres and experience levels are welcome to write, share and learn. Fuel your creativity with writing prompts and brief writing exercises with opportunities to share and discuss as a group.

February 28, 10 a.m.: Preschool Story Time: join us at the Libby library for the other side of the story. Was Jack a petty thief? Was Red Riding Hood just spoiled rotten? Get the full scoop from the characters that know the true story about our beloved heroes and heroines.
