James Leonard Brown

| January 31, 2017 1:05 PM

James Leonard Brown died on Monday, May 2, 2016 at Young at Heart Care Facility in Sacramento, Calif. He was born to Leonard J. and Ida A. Brown in Havre, on June 4, 1931. His family moved to Libby in August of 1936. James’s dad was the owner of Brown’s Bus Service. James grew up in Libby and had so many great childhood stories and treasured memories of Thompson Lake.

James moved from Libby after returning from the service and getting married in 1955. He made his home in Spokane, Wash. and then in Santa Rosa, Calif. until he retired.

James was a father to five children, James Brown of Spokane, Wash., Kathleen Acevedo of Sacramento, Calif., Thomas Brown of Sacramento, Teresa McManus of Sacramento, and Timothy Brown of Grants Pass, Ore. He was also a grandfather to Alta Acevedo, Kent Brown, Jared Brown, John McManus, III, Nathan Acevedo and Noah Acevedo. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mavis Brown in 2001 and granddaughter, Domini Brown in 2002.

James, or Jim as he was known to friends, was larger than life. He was the life of the party, a man of so many stories and someone that took command of a room. James was a world traveler and lover of the finer things in life.

A special thanks to the staff at Young at Heart in Sacramento who cared for James until his passing in May.
