Raymond L. Smith

Raymond L. Smith passed away on Jan. 19, 2017 at his residence in Reno, Nev.

He was born on Oct. 11, 1932, the youngest of seven children, to John B. and Mamie D. Smith (Davis). Ray attended Troy Public Schools. After graduating from high school in 1951, he enlisted in the Air Force, serving in Alaska and New Mexico. After military service, Ray entered government service with the National Park Service enjoying assignments at Glacier National Park, Death Valley, N.M., Lake Mead NRA, New York City, San Francisco Regional Office and culminating his career as Administrative Officer at Assateague National Seashore in Maryland.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; brother Jim, Jack, Albert, sisters Bessie Cowie, Helen Walden, Lorene Hurd and long time friend Frank Montgomery.

He is survived by many nieces and nephews both great- and great-great, as well as many close friends.

Services were provided by the Neptune Society with inurnment in the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley, Nev.
