Trojans lose to Eureka and St. Ignatius

The Troy Trojans had a rough week, losing against St. Ignatius and Eureka.

In hopes to secure their first win, the Trojans lost by only one point against the Lions in overtime, 65-66.

The Lions led 22-13 after the first quarter but couldn’t hold on to the lead in regulation. Eureka held a four-point lead for most of the overtime period with Troy hitting another 3-pointer at the buzzer to cut the lead.

The Trojans scored a layup and three-pointer in the last 10 seconds of regulation to force overtime, but Eureka got the better of them in the extra session to secure a win.

Mason Chapel had a game-high 24 points and Dillon Savage and Zach Cotten each had 16 points for the Trojans. Tucker Winn tallied four and Jordan Day added five.

The next day, the Trojans lost their home game against St. Ignatius, who severely outscored Troy in the first quarter and fourth quarter.

Savage scored 19 points and Chapel had 16 points for Troy. Cotten had five, AJ Faur and Brylee Fruend tallied four and Winn, Noah Cabellero, Tyler Gromly and Connor Meyers each scored two.
