Bradley Nowell

| January 17, 2017 11:51 AM

Brad Nowell passed away January 6 surrounded by family in his home in Belgrade, Mont. He had been in declining health for several months, but was peaceful at the end.

Growley was born in Libby in 1951 and attended Libby Public Schools. He graduated from LHS in 1969. After a stint in Vietnam with the U.S. Army, he returned to the Pacific Northwest and eventually to Lincoln County. He partnered with Dan Lockard in ownership of Little Joe, Montana, in the late ‘70s before beginning his career in mining and tunneling. That work took him to Chicago for some 20 years until his retirement.

Preceding him in death were his first wife, Jan Seabrook (1977); his second wife, Nancy O’Leary (2011); his father, Bud Nowell (2011); his mother, Bernice Nowell (2012); and his current wife, Kathy O’Leary, who passed five minutes before him.

Survivors include son Jasper Nowell of Chicago, Ill.; step daughters Tess Tessier (Mike) of Trout Creek, Kate Follett (Jonathan), and Samantha (Justin) Kralman, both of Walla Walla, Wash.; stepson Jeff Streifling of Libby; sister Janet Nowell of San Diego, Cali.; brother Rob Nowell of Palmdale, Cali.; along with several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Never at a loss for words, Brad will be missed by friends and family who enjoyed his wit and candor, as well as his intelligent view of the world.

A service will be held on July 8 at Foothills Fellowship, in Bozeman, Mont. Brad will be interred with his wife, Kathy O’Leary, in Churchill, Mont.
