Libby Dam flow changes update

The daily flow changes for the Libby dam are described below. This operation is to draft the reservoir to target the flood risk management elevation of 2396.2 feet, set by the January Water Supply Forecast.

On Jan. 12, outflows increased from 15 kcfs to 20 kcfs over two hours starting at 5 a.m. The following day, Jan. 13, outflows will decrease from 20 kcfs to 15 kcfs over two hours starting at 10 p.m. On Jan. 14, outflows will decrease from 15 kcfs to 10 kcfs over five hours starting at 7 p.m. Then, on Jan. 15, outflows will decrease from 10 kcfs to 6.5 kcfs over five hours starting at 1 a.m.

As of Thursday:

• Koocanusa Reservoir elevation: 2401.3 feet.

• Koocanusa Reservoir inflow: ~4 kcfs.

• Libby Dam outflow: 20 kcfs.

• Kootenai River elevation at Bonners Ferry: 1,749.5 feet.
