Cabinet Peaks Medical Center is ringing in and celebrating more than just the New Year. The first of January also marked the Go Live date for the latest version of the Health Information System, known as Meditech. The new system brings with it improved patient safety, new technology and increased functionality and efficiencies.

“Patient safety is the number one most important thing to any healthcare provider and medical center,” Chief Nursing Officer Anita Ivankovig said in a press release. “The new version of Meditech allows us to better track a patient as they travel from department to department within the hospital by creating one universal record, which is very helpful to our physicians, nurses and other staff members.”

Additionally, the new version of Meditech has updated software to accommodate the various governmental regulations changes, and will increase efficiencies for physicians and staff at the medical center as well.

“We appreciate the community’s patience as we fine tune this system,” Bryce Thompson of Information Systems Manager at CPMC said in a press release. “With any major change, there will most likely be questions that arise through the course of our daily work once the system is in full swing. This may mean minor delays for our patients for the first few weeks of 2017, and we appreciate everybody’s understanding as we work through the transition. The staff has done a wonderful job of building and learning the new system.”
