Marianne Roose, retired Lincoln County Commissioner was just reappointed to serve on the Montana Board of Public Assistance.

Roose will head out to Helena this week to handle five cases the board has on their agenda.

“It takes a lot of commitment and dedication and issues that come before us are very important and I realize the importance and impact of the decisions,” Roose said.

The Montana Board of Public Assistance is a quasi-judicial body that provides a forum in which aggrieved citizens can contest actions of the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services related to public assistance. The board reviews the record of the administrative hearing and makes a final decision, which may be appealed to district court.

Three appointed members serve on the Board of Public Assistance, which meets once every other month in Helena.

“It’s a challenge and I enjoy it,” Roose said.
