Choice Card Program held on March 2

| February 17, 2017 12:13 PM

Choice Card Program will be held at the Libby VFW Post 1548 on March 2, 2017, at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Guest speaker will be Kevin Ginter, Spokane Veterans Affairs, Choice Champion.

An Overview of the Choice Program: Beginning Nov. 5, 2014, the Veterans Choice Program began to cover non-VA care for eligible Veterans enrolled in VA health care. Many Veterans will have the option to receive non-VA health care rather than waiting for a VA appointment or travelling to a VA facility.

The Choice Program is designed to supplement the care veterans receive at a VA medical facility, not replace or limit that care. Use of the program is totally voluntary — a Choice. No veteran will be required to seek care in the community using the card. In addition, any veteran currently eligible for VA care will retain that eligibility even if he or she uses a Choice program to obtain care in the community.

Recipients must meet financial guidelines provided by the agency at www.usda.gov.csfp.

Recertification is required to receive this month’s distribution. Forms can be obtained in the Libby VFW lounge after noon seven days a week.

The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) works to improve the health of low income elderly persons at least 60 years of age by supplementing their diets with nutritious USDA foods.
