A series of business workshops for farmers and ranchers will begin in Troy in early January.

Titled “Planning For On-Farm Success,” the workshops target those who are “interested in starting a new business or adding a new enterprise” and feature “expert presenters, experienced producers and ag professionals to help participants understand and develop the tools they need to launch a successful new enterprise,” a news release states. “Participants will learn about local resources, network with local producers and service providers and get hands-on support working on their own business plans.”

The workshops will be held at Troy High School at 116 East Missoula Ave. from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays from Jan. 9 to March 20.

The topics are:

Jan 9: Farm Strategic Planning

Jan 16: Researching Your Market

Jan 23: Farm Marketing and Promotion

Jan 30: Managing Your Financials

Feb 6: Financial Decision-Making

Feb 13: Financing Your Farm

Mar 20: Managing Farm Risks

Registration costs $20 per workshop or $100 for all seven and includes a workbook. Those who register for all seven before Jan. 2 will receive a 25 percent discount.
