The VFW Post No. 1548 Ladies Auxiliary recently raised $1,000 for two local Christmas gift programs — Lincoln County Christmas and Shop with a Cop. They donated $500 to each.

Lincoln County Christmas provides needy children with Christmas gifts, as well as stockings and stocking stuffers, wrapping paper, bows, ribbons, tape and batteries. Last year they helped 430 children. A fundraiser was held at the VFW on Dec. 1.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office’s “Shop with a Cop” program raises money so law enforcement officers can take children chosen by Libby and Troy school districts on a Christmas shopping spree to buy gifts for family members. This year’s event takes place Dec. 19.

Editor’s note: A previous version of this story mistakenly reported that VFW Post No. 1548 raised the money. The story has been updated to reflect that the money was in fact raised by the Ladies Auxiliary.
