Eight area organizations recently were awarded Lincoln County Community Foundation grants, it was announced Tuesday.

The grant recipients are Friends of Historic Libby Hotel, Libby Girl Scouts, Kootenai Pets for Life, Troy Food Pantry, Yaak Valley Forest Council, Kootenai Winter Sports, Cabinet Peaks Medical Center and Kootenai Cross Country Ski Club.

“Each year the LCCF awards grants to nonprofits in south Lincoln County based on an application process,” a news release states. “The grants come from interest on a permanent endowment comprised of funds raised by the foundation board and donations from many in the community.”

The foundation accepts tax deductible donations and planned gifts from donors to build the endowment. The endowment cannot be spent and only the earnings are used to benefit Lincoln County residents.

To contribute or learn more about the grants, contact Paula Darko Hensler, foundation chair, at P.O. Box 490, Libby, MT 59923.
